Improving your PixInsight processing one star at a time.

Welcome to Paulyman Astro

Here you will find written tutorials that I hope complement and expand on my YouTube tutorials.

Below are a sample of my most recent tutorials, both written and YouTube. While in the menu above you will also find further information about my social media presence, such as on Instagram and Facebook.

Please consider “Buying me a Coffee” if you find my content useful, it does really help and is of course appreciated.

In this video I show off Adam Blocks new narrowband processing techniques using his NBColorMapper and ImageBlend scripts for PixInsight. I keep it super simple so you can see what a barebones image looks like using his technique. -------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to support the channel then head on over to my Buy Me a Coffee page and check out the options, I have set up a goal to work towards for web hosting as well. buymeacoffee.com/paulymanastro
The New Adam Block Narrowband Technique
My new Orton Glow Utility has reached version 1.0! I finally got a functioning preview, which makes it so much more useful. I removed the LRGB the development version was applying. I felt that the whole point of the Orton effect was that dreamy glow and the LRGB was muting that, so instead I have changed the recommended opacity values to make it a nice and subtle effect. In a future version I will hopefully work out how to have a range mask applied to zero in on just the brighter regions while protecting the shadows, I will also hopefully have the script close the Glow image prior to exiting as it really doesn't need to stick around and clutter up your work space. How to add the repository ---------------------------------------------------------- The original link I had here got cut off by YouTube, so I have added a shortened link below via bitly. If you follow it you will see a "403 - Forbidden", don't panic. Just copy and paste the actual web address and add that to your repositiories list in PixInsight. I know it's a bit of a pain but it should fix the issue with YouTube cutting off links. https://bit.ly/4dTrwsr -------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to support the channel then head on over to my Buy Me a Coffee page and check out the options, I have set up a goal to work towards for web hosting as well. buymeacoffee.com/paulymanastro
Orton Glow Utility
I have created a simple script to emulate the Photoshop method of creating an Orton Glow effect but from within PixInsight. I demonstrate the 0.1 version in this video, very much a work in progress. The repository can be found at: https://paulymanastro.photography/OrtonGlow/ That needs to be added to the PixInsight repository list, the address can't be accessed directly from a browser. My New Orton Glow Script (Sneak Preview)
Seti Astro has done it again with another amazing PixInsight script. "What's in my Image" will search your image for known objects, you can control the search region and the type of objects you wish to search for and can even annotate the image! Check out his website for repository information: https://www.setiastro.com/pjsr-scripts If you would like to support the channel then head on over to my Buy Me a Coffee page and check out the options, I have set up a goal to work towards for web hosting as well. buymeacoffee.com/paulymanastro
WTFIT?
Seti Astro has come out with an amazing set of scripts that can really make life easy for both beginner and more experienced imagers. I show a simple narrowband partial workflow for beginners here up to the point of actually combining the images. At that point you have a range of options to produce a colour image, for instance my own Foraxx Palette Utility or Adam Blocks NB Colour Mapper script (but that would be for another video).
